“Lets Talk Pleasure” is the theme for 2022 World Sexual Health Day.
World Sexual Health Day is an initiative for the World Association for Sexual Health, raising awareness and promoting healthy, happy and safe sexual practices.
We like to believe that talking about sex and existence going hand in hand. Sadly, it is still shrouded in an element of taboo, across generations, nations and religions as well as the diverse cultures.
The absence of free and safe platforms to discuss sex, expose a vast majority of people, specifically younger generations, to practice unsafe sexual practices. It is vital that, that cycle is broken.
This year the theme for World Sexual Health Day is. “LET’S TALK PLEASURE”, identifying the role of sexual pleasure in an overall sense of sexual health and well being.
Our sexuality is one of the strongest energies that we as humans have. It’s joyous, increases energy and general mental health and wellbeing. It needs to be openly discussed. There needs to be safe platforms to discuss pleasure, the essence of pleasure and what it means to empower yourself as a sexual being.
What WHO Says
The World Health Organisation promotes sexual health and wellbeing. Talking about sexual health is important.
WHO say’s “Sexual health is a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being related to sexuality; it is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity. Sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination and violence. For sexual health to be attained and maintained, the sexual rights of all persons must be respected, protected and fulfilled.”
